"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." Psalm 139:14
Have you ever wondered what your purpose is on this earth? Are you feeling worthless or unloved? For so long we wonder why we were born and if we will ever have a significance. The closer I grew to the Lord, the more He has shown me that we all have a significance! You were made for a purpose! The greater news is that the almighty God has made you!
Everywhere we look we can see all parts and forms of God's wonderful creation. We see all around us that it is truly beautiful, not only did God create the Heavens and the animals wonderfully, He also created you which means that we are equally as great as each part of His creation, but we are worth so much more to Him. The same God that created all factors of nature and the animals, has created you!
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1:26
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1
"And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." Colossians 1:17
Sometimes we often feel as if we were a mistake, but nothing is further from the truth than that! The Lord does not make any mistakes.
Let's take a look and find this out in His word!
"Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable." Psalm 145:3
The definition of unsearchable is: not capable of being searched or explored.
"Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite." Psalm 147:5
The definition of infinite is: immeasurably or inconceivably great or extensive, subject to no limitation. Extending beyond, lying beyond, or being greater than any preassigned finite value.
In many parts of the Bible, we can see that the Lord has infinite wisdom, power, and goodness. In Genesis 1:31 we can see that God makes no mistakes.
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Genesis 1:31
Wow, how amazing is that? When God saw all that He had made, He did not see any fault in it, He saw that it was very good. The ways of the Lord are perfect and good.
Numbers 23:19 tells us "God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?"
"The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works." Psalm 145:17
These two verses show that God is not as we are. As humans, we are bound to make mistakes because of our fallen nature, we often change our minds and sometimes it is hard for us to fulfill the words that we speak, but the Lord does not lie and He cannot make any mistakes. God is unchangeable in His righteous and holy ways, He always keeps His word and is faithful to His promises!
"This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." 1 John 1:5
"He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He." Deuteronomy 32:4
You are not a mistake because God has never made any mistakes! God has loved us even before He created us. Before He created us, He did not need us but He created us out of His love, 1 John 4:8 tells us that God is love! Through God's love and His amazing wisdom and creativity, He created us so that we may have a relationship with Him and so that we may enjoy all that He is and what He has made.
"The Lord appeared to him from far away, saying, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you." Jeremiah 31:3
"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee" Jeremiah 1:5
There is no fault in God and no fault in His Son, Jesus. Hebrews 4:15 tells us that all throughout Jesus’ life, He never committed sin in thought, word, or deed. Matthew 4:1-11 tells us that when Jesus was on earth, the enemy had tried to find at least one fault in Him, but could not find any.
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 1 Peter 1:19-21
"Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man." Luke 23:4
"Many, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told." Psalm 40:5
It truly is a joyful thought to realize that just as He has created everything with its own beauty and uniqueness such as the flowers; their features, smell, colour, shape, and size, He has done the same thing for us!
"Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments." Psalm 119:73-74
God's word tells us in Genesis 1:27 that He made both male and female. As we read in Genesis 1:31 that God saw that all His creation was very good! Everything that the Lord has created is good and you are a part of His creation!
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." Genesis 1:27
The amazing thing is that you do have a purpose on this earth and God has wonderful plans for your life! Jeremiah 29:11 tells us this "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10
"Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them." Psalm 139:16
The world always has the biggest tendency of really bringing us down. Before I accepted Jesus into my life the world had always failed me, only leaving me confused and broken. Our worth does not come from this world. I had never truly known who I was or who I was supposed to be and now looking back I see that the reason for that was because I was always wondering around without God as my solid foundation, always changing for whoever I was near, whoever I became friends with, always changing to fit in with them or to try to become that certain type of person. I truly did care what people thought of me, I would become self conscious if someone didn't like me or the way I looked, I always wanted to be accepted. I know that many struggle with the same things that I did, we will never ever make the world happy or satisfied with us. There will always be people who like you and do not like you, if we are constantly changing for the happiness of others, how can we obtain happiness and contentment with ourselves?
I know exactly what it is like to be made fun of or to have many painful insults said against you. Having Jesus in my life has truly set me free from the darkness of this world. Why do we spend so much time trying to impress people who truly do not care about us? People will always continue to change their minds, thoughts, and opinions toward you. The sad thing is that many people today only care if we have something in common with them or if we benefit them for their own good, but the good news is that even when friends come and go, Jesus comes into our lives and stays.
After living 16 years of constantly changing who I am, trying to fit in for everyone, God showed me that we will never find our true purpose or our true being apart from Him. Jesus has called us to love one another regardless of if they are our enemies or our closest friend. I know that may sound impossible, but with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26)
The Lord has also shown me that it does not matter what people think of you, it only matters what He thinks! His thoughts toward you are countless as the sand at the seashore, you are so wonderful to Him and He loves you dearly. You are His wonderful creation and He has made you special and remember that the Lord makes no mistakes!
"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you" Matthew 5:44
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” John 13:34
When Jesus starts to work in our hearts, we stop caring so much about how we look. 1 Samuel 16:7 tells us that the Lord looks at the heart. God doesn’t focus on how we look each day because regardless of how we look, He loves us unconditionally! God will never judge you upon your looks, you are His creation and nothing can change His thoughts toward you. (Isaiah 55:8-9) God always looks at our heart, our soul is important to Him. He searches for love, He searches for pureness, righteousness, goodness and everything that He desires you to be. Isaiah 64:8 says "But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand." God mends our brokenness and blemishes into something beautiful and He does that by looking at what is inside of our hearts.
Slowly people are caring less and less about others feelings. There is no genuine love anymore. It hurts my heart to see that that quality is hard to find these days. It usually is 'if you like me then I like you, but if you hate me then I hate you'. The saying 'No one cares unless your pretty or dying' is terrible. That is not what God calls us to do, God loves everybody, even if someone completely rejects Him. Never by our own strength will we be able to love others as God does and that is why He is a necessity in our lives. The closer I grew to Jesus, He enabled me to love others more deeply and to really see others from a different and more understanding perspective. He shows us how to love those who hate us and those who hurt us. He places a love for others in our heart that we never thought we could obtain. If someone were to say something hurtful to you, God will enable you to have the strength to remain calm because whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love (1 John 4:8). In the past, if someone said something hurtful to me, I would always become angry and want to fight back.
"So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13
We see pictures of celebrities, models, and watch movies that are there to make us believe that this is what we should look like or how we should make our lives to be. These standards are the enemy’s way of trying to turn us away from being who God truly created us to be, to convince us that we 'are not cool' or ‘beautiful’ if we don't act or look this certain way. The closer we grow to the Lord, the more we can see how special He has made every single person.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10
Seeing photos of models has only caused so many to feel unworthy and self conscious. We shouldn't need to live like that, God made us unique. He did not make us to look the same as each other, if that was His will then He would have made us all look identical. And that is the beauty of God, that by His amazing love, He has designed us all differently with the same amount of beauty and worth! The world will always try to make us feel poorly about ourselves if we do not act, dress, look, or talk a certain way. It will always point out our flaws and judge us for them, but the Lord sees our inner flaws only to correct and to help us repair them.
"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows." Luke 12:6-7
"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth." Psalm 139:3-15
We should not feel obligated to follow the standards of the world because you are beautiful in God's eyes. God created us with a future, plans of hope and He truly wants to reveal these amazing things to you! No matter what flaw you have in you, He remains faithful and His love for you endures forever. We are here because God has a purpose and a reason for us to be. I know that it is a hard thing not to fit in and that is where the Lord's strength comes in. When we know who we are doing it for, it makes anything possible no matter how hard, our reward will be great in Heaven when we work unto the Lord each day with a joyful heart!
We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! (Philippians 4:13)
Jesus has shown me true worth and my purpose. For the first time, I feel whole, pure peace, and completion. He taught me the beauty in standing out from the world and showed me that we don't need to look and act the way the world wants us to.
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:2
The Lord opens our eyes to see the darkness of the world and He places in us a new heart of joy, peace, and truth.
If you still don't believe that you are worth it, listen to this!
You are loved by someone more than you could ever know, by someone who died to know you. Before you were conceived, He knew you. He created you and knit you together in your mother’s womb. He knows the reason that your here. He created your features, your character, everything that holds you together, He made.
Romans 8:32 tells us that "He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?". Oh, how He loves us. Even while we were blind and dead in unrighteousness, He sent His only Son Jesus to take our condemnation in His body so that when we believe in Him we may be set free and healed from the pain and consequences that the world brings. Jesus willingly took a violent death so that He could make a way for you to receive eternal life.
"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." 1 Peter 2:24
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with his stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5
Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood . Revelation 1:5
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. John 14:3
1 Corinthians 13 tell us that true love never fails and 1 Peter 4:8 that love covers a multitude of sins. And Jesus tells us "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
No words can describe how valuable you are to the almighty God, your creator! He loves so much that even when we were living in constant rebellion against Him, He came to earth and died for us on the cross to set us free from sin that leads to destruction and sorrow. You were worth dying for. He only asks of you to believe in what He has done for you to be set free and you shall be freed. (Romans 10:13)
"So if the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed." John 8:36
"Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26
You were made for a purpose that only the Lord can reveal to you, much better plans than what the world could ever offer us. Even if the world does not like you, know that it doesn't matter, we must focus on the things which are eternal and not temporary. Jesus tells us in John 15:18 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you". Jesus was beat, spit on, mocked, and nailed to the cross for our sake.
The next time that you feel alone, I truly want you to remember that you surely are not alone. Remember Psalm 139:2-4, which says:
"You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether."
The Lord will always put peace in our heart. Through anything you may face, it will not bother you because the everlasting God is on your side. If God is for us, who could ever be against us? (Romans 8:31). Your worth does not come from this world, it comes from God. You should always be content with who God created you to be because you are unique and special in His eyes! If you truly are not happy with who you are, the best way to be set free from that bondage is to let it go to The Lord, surrender your heart and soul over to Him and He will come and make your heart His home. Share your hurts with Him and He will heal you. He will replace your sorrow with hope and joy!
Your purpose is in God and God alone, allow Him to reveal the amazing plans that He has in store for you. I found joy living in God's purpose and I have finally found who I truly am. Jesus is the only way that we can be set me from the bondage of this world.
I think it is time for us to stop listening to what the world says we should be, let us be set free and embrace who God created us to be!
I cannot wait to see the amazing things that He does in your life! God does not require us to look or be a certain way for us to come to Him, He only desires your heart. Do not let this world take away the worth that God has given you.
